Call for Track Chairs

Knowledge Acquisition Workshop -- KAW'96

Banff, Alberta, Canada

November 9 through November 14, 1996

The next Banff knowledge-acquisition workshop will take place in November, 1996. The official call for participation will be issued in late January, 1996. As in previous years, the Banff workshop will comprise a number of tracks organized around themes related to the broad concepts of eliciting, modeling, and encoding knowledge for the development of intelligent systems. The Banff workshops have included tracks on topics such as:-

The success of any track in the workshop is a function both of the individuals who contribute papers for a particular track and of the chairs who assemble the tracks and organize their activities. In advance of the general call for participation for KAW'96, the workshop organizers would like those individuals who are potentially interested in serving as track chairs to identify themselves and to discuss the role that they might play in putting together one of the workshop's tracks. The topics for tracks at KAW'96 certainly need not be limited to those listed above. Indeed, it is hoped that several new tracks will appear in the upcoming workshop.

The responsibilities for KAW'96 track chairs will include:

Traditionally, track chairs have found their work to be personally rewarding and a valuable service to the knowledge-acquisition community.

People who are interested in serving as KAW'96 track chairs and who can make the necessary time commitment should contact the workshop organizers as soon as possible (e-mail addresses below). Please propose a description of the track that you would like to chair, and indicate any special plans that you might have for the track. Also indicate whether there is a particular individual (whom you have consulted in advance) with whom you might want to share the responsibilities of serving as track chair.

We are looking forward to another great knowledge-acquisition workshop. Please let us know if you'd like to have a major role in making it a success.
