I'm not sure if this fits the bill, but Maureen Pope once did a conference
paper on the way in which childrens' construing of physical phenomena (e.g.
force, weight) appears to share some, but crucially not all, of the
characteristics of physicists' explanations as theories in physics have
developed down the ages. The paper compared Kellian assumptions with those
of Lakatos. I don't recall the reference but you could give Maureen a shout
and take the opportunity to see if she did anything on the same topic
subsequent to that paper?
