Hello, I am new to the list, as I have only this yera strated my PhD, and
come in contact with Kelly's work only in the last few months. Threfore I
will not dare, yet, to make any comments on Kelly's view on relativists,
but i could not help commenting on the above sentence by Eumaeus.
As far as I know, indeed, the list is not a boys only club, or am I
mistaken, misinformed, and misplaced? I thought the net offered some
space for discussion, and not a space to recreate a replica of what goes
on IRL academic circles... As a woman, I certainly did not feel welcome,
receiving this as my 1st message from the list, and I dare say that my
feeling could be shared by some other women who might have just joined
the list... Please, let not assume that just beacuse this is an academic
newsgroup all the members will be men (and mostly white, middle class,
able-bodied, straight, etc...). I don't ask for preferential treatment,
or 'extra-care', just respect, and the sentence quoted above certainly
lacks of respect (and tact and taste as well, IMHO). Sorry to have
bothered the all list with this message, but I think it is important for
evrybody to notice what could be hurtful remarks.
