Dear Lynda,

As a quick coda to your own, and John Mayes', exchange concerning
laddering downwards,

>Hello, John,

>Thanks for the info! I'm going to check it out. Silly me, I thought
>'laddering' was only up :) -- Jung would be upset with me.

you might want to consider the issue of construct _hierarchies_.
Laddering down does as John mention enable one to obtain a more
behaviourally explicit expression of a construct; but any one construct
will have _several_ "laddered-down" constructs: a variety of
behaviourally more explicit expressions. Helen Jones calls this the
process of elucidating all these, "pyramiding", andTrevor Butt did a
useful summary of laddering up, laddering down, and pyramiding, with a
brief procedural guide, in the Newsletter of the European Personal
Construct Society a couple of years ago. When I get home from the office
tonight I'llsnail-mail you a copy.

Kind regards,

Devi Jankowicz
