I spoke with some folks at Seybold about Avalanche's FASTTAG HTML
recognition engine, and, as a result of that conversation, wound up
speaking with Eric Severson on the phone. I thought he might well have
something to contribute to the committee...

I confess to not having the group mail archive URL, could someone
please send it to Eric, and add eric@admin.avalanche.com to the
html-wg@oclc.org. Thanks,

Larry

Larry,

I enjoyed talking with you and want to re-echo my
enthusiasm for directly participating in the development
of the HTML standard. As we discussed, I believe I can
make a particularly strong contribution in the area of
tables. I was a key member of the team that developed
the CALS table model, am currently chairperson of the
SGML/Open Technical Committee on Tables Interchange
Issues, and have led tables-related discussions / poster
sessions for the last 4 years at GCA's annual SGML '9x
conference. I also wrote the visual recognition software
that allows Avalanche to automatically recognize and
encode tables built out of tabs and space characters.

In addition to my personal contributions, of course,
I will be able to tap a lot of expertise and "sounding
board" help through my SGML/Open committee and others
I know in the industry.

Please let me know how I can join the committee / email
discussions, and any other thoughts you have on what
I could do that would be most valuable.

Thanks much,
Eric
