Proposals for new features

It is perhaps time to remind readers of this list that it is not a
forum for general discussion of what might be nice to have in HTML.
This list should be restricted to the specific purpose of discussing
the issues directly relevant to the task of advancing the standard.

There are many pressing and important issues already on the table, and
promoting unfoccussed discussion distracts from the tasks at hand.

If readers have proposals for new features, they should follow Dan
Connolly's post about how to propose a new feature. Of course, it is
always prudent to search the archives for what others have done in a
given area, and to share such a proposal among people privately to
avoid unnecessary embarrassment.

Dan... would you care to repost your instructions for proposing new
features?
