The TEI naming schemes have 2 great things going for them:
1) They are easy to understand, and trivial to implement.
2) The are applicable to a wide variety of data types.
They could be used to address nodes in VRML for example,
or an object in an OODB.
They are certainly worth looking at. The TEI P3 is available via the
WWW at http://www.ebt.com/
I remember my debate with Phil. Hallam-Baker about these last year.
I wish Lee were around here then ;-)
