Introduction and Overview

ISIS is proud to welcome you, the user of the Hospital2000 Scheduling System , to this powerful and yet easy-to-use software for the daily scheduling of your patients to wards and operations. You will quickly discover that the Hospital Scheduling System is designed with your needs in mind. The interface is clean and intuitive -- especially for experienced Windows users -- yet flexibility has not been sacrificed for simplicity.

>From the given images in the User document, it appears that the interface is indeed impressive. Toward 2000 is excited about seeing the actual system soon.

Although the average user will be able to navigate this system with little assistance, no system is complete without a comprehensive user's manual. The purpose of this manual is to provide you with a clear and concise guide through the Hospital Scheduling System interface. This is accomplished by organizing the entire system by its functional units, each of which is described in a step by step sequence of instructions.

In addition to the step by step instructions for each function unit, this manual includes sections that describe a few of the most common scenarios. You will find these scenarios to be a rapid way to learn the fundamentals of the Hospital Scheduling System ; we recommend that you start out by trying them yourself on your new system.

Toward 2000 is pleased to see that scenarios and walkthroughs in the document are included. Toward 2000 believes that the best way to aquire a new system is to learn it by actual experimentation. The Toward 2000 committee has provided feedback on all the scenarios, please see their respective parts for detailed comments on each.

Error Messages

The Hospital Scheduling System has been designed to minimize the frequency with which errors conditions can occur. However, there will be situations when you will be faced with a simple window that contains an error message. These messages are intended to inform you of the cause of the error condition and to guide you to a correct course of action.

After reading the error message, simply click of the OK box in the error window. The cause of the error will be cleared and you may continue from the point before the error occurred. If you are unsure about what to do, click on Help or consult this manual (note that the online help feature has not been implemented in the prototype version of this software).

Toward 2000 is impressed by the thorough help and error message facitilities. The committee hopes that the need to look up error messages will be an infrequent occurence, but is glad that the available documentation is present to render assistance when neccessary. However, detailed descriptions for each error message and its respective solutions would have been an excellent addition to this document. Given the time constraints, the committee recognizes that this may not be feasible.
