Had This Been A Real Project

If this project were real, we would have wanted improvement in two areas: the relationship between the supplier and the customer, and the division and internal communication of the design team.

We feel that there needs to be greater emphasis on the communication between the supplier and customer. With a project this size, there is bound to be a lot of questions to be asked and answered by both the customer and the supplier during the course of the design process. More face-to-face meetings would have led to a quicker and better understanding of the problems and possible solutions pertaining to the customer's specification and the supplier's implementation. This understanding would have helped to ensure that the final product would conform as closely to the specifications as was possible.

Another improvement we would have liked is to have sub-divided the design team according to their specialized skills and the complexity of the tasks, and to improve the liason among the sub-groups. When the project team is broken down into sub-groups, greater consideration should be given based on the individual's strength in the area. More people should have been assigned to tackle the most difficult and time-consuming task of coding the program (in our case one person seems to have done a remarkable amount of great work). Next, closer interaction among members of the team should be more emphasized. Rather than relying mostly on one person for the internal communication, there should be more meetings to discuss issues in greater details between inter-group members so that each member feels included, thus more encouraged to participate, in the development process.
