leaving and suspending

Sorry to everyone on the list for the spate of "remove me from this
list" messages. I may have contributed to them by having no time
to monitor the list more than weekly at best of late.

For everyone still _ON_ the list (weak grin):

1) Thanks for not complaining to the list about this. If you want to
complain or alert me: Email me directly!

2) NEVER, NEVER send such messages to the list, send them to
me or to pcp-request@mailbase.ac.uk .. but then .. you are
obviously the ones who know this!!

3) If you are leaving for a summer break:
a) please don't leave a vacation autoresponder running unless
you are quite sure it is list-friendly, if you're not using a unix
mailer, assume whatever you've got isn't list-friendly
b) either unsubscribe yourself from the list , or ...
c) suspend yourself from the list

4) to suspend yourself meditate heavily on constructive
alternativism and levitate gently ... no dammit, get serious Chris ...
send a message to:
saying in the body of the message:
suspend mail all
That will suspend mailing to you from any mailbase lists you're on
until you send to the same address:
resume mail all
when you return!

I should be around until the end of August but am busily chasing
new jobs. I'll be away for two weeks in September but by then the
wonderful Malcolm who has been monitoring the lists technical
problems since January will be back and in charge so there
shouldn't be any long period when the list is without someone on

Best wishes all!
