Seems a bit grandiose and weird to me but of legitimate interest to
the list I'd guess.

If you're replying to these people (Carol Jones or Jonathan Michie)
**** PLEASE DON'T JUST USE "REPLY TO" ****
or your response will go to the list and we'll all read it ...

Best wishes all,

Chris

Could you please post the following Call for Contributors on your
discussion list. With many thanks, Professor Jonathan Michie,
Birkbeck College, London (project editor)

Call for Contributors for the Reader's Guide to the Social Sciences

The Reader's Guide to the Social Sciences will be a 2-volume
reference work of 2,500-3,000 pages, containing some 2,000
entries in a large-page, double-column format. It is designed for a
wide variety of users:
lecturers preparing reading lists, students in search of additional
references, researchers doing literature searches, and so on.

Among the numerous reference books on the social sciences,
there is none that is planned and structured along the same lines
as this project, as a critical and explanatory guide to reading on a
wide range of subject matter. The project is on track for publication
in January 2000 by the publishers Fitzroy Dearborn based in
London.

Each entry will consist of a listing of approximately eight to 10
publications (journal articles, monographs, and so on) relating to the
topic, accompanied by 1000 words in which the selected
publications are discussed with special reference to their particular
emphases, strengths, and limitations. The book itself will be in a
single A-Z sequence, but for the convenience of potential
contributors, the titles have been arranged into the following
categories: economics and political economy; management
and business; human geography; psychology; politics; sociology;
law; organizational psychology and organizational behaviour.

For more information, a sample entry, the full list of entries under
each subject heading, and contact details for submitting your offers,
please visit our editorial website at
http://www.fitzroydearborn.com/london/rgss.htm

I hope you will take part in this exciting project.
