General University - meeting minutes for Jan 14, 1996, 12:00p Attendence: Ed Jason Wendy Guy Hiu Alvin Laura Jeff Tim Chris - the group decided Ed will be the chair for this meeting, and Alvin will be the secretary. - the group decided on 3 major topics: 1 who the customer group is, and the environment for the computer program we are specifying. 2 functions of the program 3 information the program will be dealing with List of ideas for each topic. 1: ease of use, walk up and use users with very little experience size of university: scalable we are an educational institution dial up access students already admitted 2: create timetable admin functions for updating courses courses available depending on prerequisites privacy concerns print timetable conflict identification & resolution inquiries into course description and availability add/drop course change lec, lab, tut help on using system help for the course selection process 3: major, minor student personal info courses available, time, prerequisites current timetable max # courses to register in at once class list, size fees waiting list term/year for registering - the group listed the following scenarios * student walks up, creates a timetable with no conflicts, meets graduation requirements in about 10 minutes. * student be able to change course, lec, lab, tutorial * student be able to print the timetable - split into smaller groups (2-3 people) to expand the scenarios for about 15 minutes - decide 1 person (Alvin) will write up the draft informal specification - Jeff agrees to give group members a tutorial on creating web pages - Ed agrees to be the Leader and make all final decisions. - Tim agrees to be his assistant and editor - Jason agrees to be an editor - Mel and Jeff agree to be the web masters - Guy agrees to be the active secretary - group agrees to be called 'General University (Gen U)' - other possible designations are: tester, evaluator - next meeting Monday, January 11, 1996 at 1:00p in the workroom * will discuss the informal specification draft * will mail the specification to a TA for comments - done at 1:30p PS: comments on style and content welcome.
