Spence, chairman of the House National Security Committee, the U.S. Army will terminate its Sustaining Base Information Systems program at the end of fiscal year 1997. The program was to have replaced some 3,700 computer systems by 2002. To date, the army has spent more than $150 million yet has received only a handful of replacement systems.
