Executive Summary                                   
     We at VoidWorks Software Inc. are proud to announce the introduction of a new software system specifically designed for the Springfield Public Library. The system, called the Book Management System or BMS, has been created from a set of specifications set out by the Springfield Library, and has been implemented 'from the ground up' by VoidWorks. This system, the largest project undertaken by VoidWorks yet, was designed with ease of use in mind while at the same time remaining extremely powerful, giving the Springfield Library a quick and easy way of processing, tracking, and maintaining all information needed by the library, as well as providing a means to automate their day-to-day operations.

 

System Overview                                   
     The system has been broken down into three main modules:
  • Books subsystem
  • Customers subsystem
  • Transaction subsystem

We believe that such a decomposition will allow for the greatest efficiency while remaining extremely versatile. As well, this has allowed us to keep the number of internal processes to a minimum, which translates into a simpler, easy to use product in the end.

 

Document Overview                                   
     The document set out before you outlines a test plan which we will use to error-check the BMS to ensure that it is completely error free when it is delivered to the Springfield Public Library in early April. This test plan describes the procedures that we intend to follow when debugging and testing the BMS, as well as giving a brief overview of the algorithms used in implementing the BMS. In addition, this document contains a comprehensive listing of each and every module within the system, as well as a description of the databases the system uses to store the library's information.
     We at VoidWorks intend to deliver a product that is of the highest quality, which will be extremely robust, and will serve the Springfield Library for a long time to come. We hope this will be evident after reading through our test plan and accompanying module descriptions.
