Glossary

BookThe term "Book" refers to any media type which includes CDs, magazines, books, laserdisks, CD-ROMs, and video.
Call NumberUnique number which is assigned to each individual book/element within the library system which serves as an identifier
CategorySpecifies the loaning period for that specific element in the database; can be one of: 'overnight', 'two week loan', or 'reserved'. With reference to customers the category is one of: 'customer', 'librarian', or 'supervisor'.
CirculationStatus of a specific book copy; can be one of 'on loan', Status 'overdue', 'on hold', 'available', or 'out of circulation'
CustomerAn individual who borrows books from the library. Customer may also refer to the user record of a librarian or supervisor.
Customer IDCustomer ID refers to a unique ID number assigned to each customer.
LibrarianAn employee at the library; by default all employees are librarians.
Media TypeSpecifies the type of media of which that element in the database/library is; can be one of: 'CD-ROM', 'cassette', 'journal', 'book', 'film', 'laserdisc', or 'book'
RestrictedA restricted customer is one who, due to other circumstances, cannot borrow any books.
SupervisorA Librarian that has special privileges within the BMS.
TransactionAny action the Customer is allowed to perform: this includes borrowing/returning a book, putting a book on hold, paying fines, etc.
