The Mammoth system is a computer database system custom designed by GorillaSoft for Northam's exclusive use. Mammoth is meant to stream-line the delivery process by providing all the parties involved with precisely the needed information at exactly the right time. Mammoth simplifies what could otherwise be a large, ungainly, and unmaintainable database.
Unfortunately, like any powerful system; Mammoth requires a level of understanding by the user before its potential can be harnessed. Unlike most powerful systems, the level of understanding that Mammoth requires is really quite minimal. The purpose of this manual is to help you quickly reach a threshold of understanding, such that using Mammoth becomes as intuitive as using a pen and paper.
Mammoth was designed with this learning period in mind. Mammoth's interface has been tailored to the users needs; your needs. You'll find that once you understand one part of Mammoth that all the other parts become much less mysterious. The whole interface was designed so that operations of similar function are also visually and conceptually similar.
This manual guides you through your first experiences with Mammoth. The idea being that once you have been properly exposed to much of the interface that you will be agreeable (and capable) of picking up much of the underlying details on your own. This is not to say that the manual glosses over the details. Quite the opposite. However, we have created this manual, with the hope that you will never read it in its entirety.
Luckily, Mammoth makes this hope probable. The following pages will guide you in setting up a small delivery system. All the basics will be covered, as well as some of the more subtle features. If at any time you feel like playing with the system, please do. The manual will still be here if you need some help.
