After being put to the test of our seven tasks, OmniWeb arose as the victor over Netscape, Mosaic, and Lynx. This is partly due to the fact that OmniWeb runs on operating system that allows for applications to interact with each other in a seamless fashion. Although OmniWeb is backed by a quality operating system, the functionality of this application was found to be superior or near equal to the other packages in every area except bookmarking. Netscape was the best of the Windows applications tested and is the most used web browser at this point in time. While Mosaic was one of the first graphical web browsers, it is clearly inferior to the Netscape browser. With pages being specifically formatted for Netscape it will be hard for Mosaic to compete in the future. Lynx may have scored the lowest in our evaluation, but it is still a valuable text-based tool that can provide quick transfers of web pages.
With the increased reliance on Internet information by professionals it can be expected that web browsers will become even better in the future. There is a large market for these software applications and competition will be fierce as companies try to produce a better web browser.
