To evaluate the three operating systems, Microsoft's Windows 95, IBM's OS/2 and Linux, we followed the above criteria. Also, in order to obtain good statistics of the actual performance of each operating systems, we need to install these operating systems in many different machines with different configurations. However, we do not have the resources to do so. This project is based on articles, experiences we have with PCs running Windows 95, OS/2 Warp and Linux kernel 1.1, 1.2.13 and 1.3.15. We also find that it unfair to compare the performance of the operating systems running one on its native program against one that is not. Hence, we will not make comparisons of this sort.
