Journals
The academic community is now beginning to recognize the ease and convience of electronic publishing. Because of escalating paper and library costs, turning to electronic form is an ideal way to cut down on costs.
There are many benefits of having journals being published electronically. For one thing, everyone has equal access to the information. How many times have you went to the library only to find out that the journal you want has been signed out ? Kinda sucks, doesn't it ? By publishing the journals electronically, everyone can get at the journal when they want, whenever they want, without fear of the journal being signed out. For now, it seems that the science and the humanities community have embraced the electronic form, for that is what dominates the electronic journals scene.
There are some sites on the internet that allow people to publish their works electronically, without being subjected to reviews. This is good in one way because the information is published without delays, for the review process could take quite a while. On the other hand, since there is little or no screening process, anyone without any academic credentials can post whatever trash they wish, so the reader has to be a little suspicious of the information received over the internet.
Some sites are now beginning to archive journals, which means the public has access to even more information than they could possibly digest.
