The discussion on the extra ises and ares in an English text sounds parochial w
hen you consider that there are languages where `to be' has only a past and a f
uture. He isn't aggressive, but, on the other hand, he may have been in the pas
t and may be again next week. A nice bit of openness and constructivism in the
