ICADD additions to HTML DTD

One of the numerous meetings at last week's SGML'94 which bore relevance to
the HTML world was that a group of people, led by Jeff Suttor and attended
by a few others from the HTML-WG (myself included, but Yuri was busy
elsewhere) was the hammering out of the final additions to the HTML 2.0 DTD
for the "SDA attributes".

For those who don't know or don't remember, this is a collection of fixed
attributes that will be added to the elements in the HTML DTD to facilitate
easy automatic translation of HTML documents to conform to the ICADD DTD.

I'm not completely fluent in SGML yet, so forgive me if I've slightly
misspoken, but I think I got it basically right. In plain English, it
allows for easy translation of HTML to formats that can be used by browsers
(or whatever) for the visually-impaired; yet the changes to the DTD do not
have any ill consequences on any current browsers.

Working group members who were in Chicago will remember that we unanimously
agreed to incorporate these attributes in the final 2.0 DTD.

One of the reasons I'm posting this to the group is to let Dan (and the
Erics) know that the necessary changes to the DTD should be coming along
from Jeff S., if they haven't already. (Perhaps they can be posted here as
well?) The other reason is to let any interested members of the working
group know that the work has gotten done...
