From what I can tell, HyTime began as a language for describing music
in the mid 80s, as a generalization of MIDI.  HyTIme retains much of
this musical influence in the choice of metaphors.  HyTime devotes
much effort to schedulinging in space and time the appearance of
events (which might be musical notes, might be documents
