Rre type registration problems.  As of this IETF, the type registration
process is going to be significantly loosened up. With no artificial
barriers to registering types and the requirement for a formal
definition loosened up to allow things like "Files produced by version
xx.yy of AAAsoft's BBB product".  This is going to make iiir work 
much easier, and forstalled the likelihood of at least gopher setting up
its own type registry.
