I would prefer to have the keyboard short-cuts rather than simpler keyword
input.

Maybe this could be made optional? A resource named somthing like
XMosaic*keywordsThroughDocArea:		{true|false}

When true all keyboard short-cuts are turned off.

Just an idea.
