How about adding a expiration tag for inlined images/figures? Something like

<img exp=never src="/mylogo.gif">

Which would allow clients to cache inlined images to disk, saving repeatedly
retrieving the same images over and over and over again, such as logo's and
Arrows/fingers/hands/feet/grooves/ears etc.. Several different types should be
available:

exp=never (The image is good forever)
exp=immediate (Dont bother caching it to disk, its gonna change very soon)
exp=daily (If you havent seen this since yesterday, re-transfer it)
exp=weekly      (                        for a week)
exp=monthly     (                              month)
exp=yearly      (                              year)
