*************** May SIGWEB Meeting Announcement ****************

The May SIGWEB meeting will be held at Sun Microsystems in Mountain View on
May 26th, from 2pm till 5pm.

The theme for the May meeting of the San Francisco Bay Area SIGWEB meeting
is the First Annual World Wide Web Conference (WWW94), held simultaneously
at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Agenda will be:

   - An introduction via telephone by an attendee of the Conference

   - A recording of the Keynote Address

We'll attempt to record an MBONE transmission of the address, and will
provide video if possible, but certainly audio.

   - A review of Web servers/services presented at the Conference

   - A conference call with Malcolm McAfee of Paideia on the Workshop
"Teaching and Learning with the Web"

   - A review of the SIGWEB Survey (time and data permitting)

   - Breakout sessions (like the BOF's of last month's meeting)

Due to the distance and time delay, we may not be able to coordinate all
the events on the agenda. Keep your fingers crossed.

Questions concerning this meeting may be directed toward

 Jonny Goldman - meeting coordinator (jonny@synopsys.com, 415-694-1772)
or
Chris McRae - SIGWEB President, (mcrae@ora.com).

SIGWEB is an organization started at the end of 1993 to facilitate
communication between practitioners of a field known generally as
Networked Information Delivery and Retrieval (NIDR) within the Bay
Area and surrounding region. Started by Chris McRae (now at O'Reilly
& Associates - mcrae@ora.com), SIGWEB has quickly expanded to include
participation by several hundred people at its monthly events. Past
events have included presentations by leaders in the development of
the World Wide Web and its client interfaces, Wide Area Information
Service (WAIS), Internet infrastructure, commercial applications of
the Internet (e.g. CommerceNet), and so on. All aspects of NIDR, from
technical details and software applications, through standards and
end-user applications are open topics of discussion. SIGWEB is an all
volunteer run group welcoming participation from all interested
individuals.

SIGWEB is based in the San Francisco Bay area, and meets once a month.
