Dear all,
You may recall that some time ago I sent a message to the list about
a person with constructs which seemd to revolve around the theme of
acceptance-rejection by other people. One I discussed with this
person was the construct "will think I'm a pest - will say I'm
helpful" in relation to promoting his own projects at work. After a
discussion in which we just talked about what this might mean and
what alternatiave helpful constructs might be (but without any
criticism of his own construct, just talking about it as if we were
stamp collectors talking about an interesting stamp) he came the next
week amazed at having realised how remarkable effectively he had
promoted his projects in the intervening time. And he had not had to
make any resolutions to force himself to do so.
I am intrigued by the way in which gentle discussion of a
construct seems to free up the person (and I have found this in
myself too). Does anybody know how or why this works?
