I agree with Eric as well... Dan has done a good job bringing
the standard along this far. It needs to be finished as quickly
as possible, as a description of current practice that is common
among the leading interfaces.
Larry's point is well taken... current practice is a slippery
term. But we agreed as early as Geneva that the overarching concern
is to describe what we understand to be the standard NOW, not what
it should be. To depart from that and engage in discussions of what
it should be or will be, will delay the codification of the standard,
and inevitably, progress towards what it SHOULD be.
The December IETF is not so far away: let us not forget the consensus
that the 2.0 standard be done by that time.
