No More Advocacy!

This is an IETF working group on HTML! Its purpose is to refine
specifications, not discuss the relative merit of different
forms of communication.

THERE SHALL BE NO DISCUSSION OF ACROBAT ON THIS LIST,
save where ideas from acrobat can engender a formal modification
of the HTML specification (not likely).

OPINIONS regarding presentational hints versus structured markup
do not belong here either! OPINIONS regarding how (lame / great)
SGML is do not belong here, except wherein they identify pitfalls
that should be mentioned as notes in future specs.

This group is not intended to INVENT anything other than specs.
Inventions (and ideas for inventions) should be proposed elsewhere,
discussed elsewhere, and IMPLEMENTED elsewhere. The only aspect
of invention suitable for this group is the question:

"Is this a good syntax for this feature within the scope
of HTML (past, present, or future)?"

Whether the feature itself is relevant or desirable is immaterial
to this forum of discussion. If you think a post is irrelevant,
just ignore it or post a personal reply to the author. DO NOT
SEND IRRELEVANT REPLIES TO IRRELEVANT POSTS.

I just spent three weeks reviving the www-* mailing lists. They are
up and active, and thousands of poor souls are just waiting for
your input on something worth discussing on a non-IETF forum.
Go to it! If you are not subscribed, send "subscribe" in the subject
of a message to

www-html-request@mail.w3.org (for undigested)
www-html-d-request@mail.w3.org (for digested)
