Your response is dead wrong. I must have some way of indicating
to the application where I want white space, or I do not have
sufficient control over the formatting of my documents. How
the browser *handles* my request for white space is a
presentational issue. But white space in general is *not*
purely presentational. This is all the more important because
of the limited range of markup possible in so generalized a
system as HTML.
