I think having a separate dialog box for searching is a good idea.
Removing the special 1 line entry box is the right step along the path
to more general form input.

If one is doing a lot of keyword entry, they can move the dialog box
to an appropriate place on their screen and leave it there, so the
interface can be similar to the 1.x one.

I also like the "forward reference" feature of 2.0 where you can see
the URLs of anchors in documents as you move the mouse over them.
