I'm having a devil of a time trying to reproduce the error; can anybody give
me a specific client + server combination that reproduces the bug?  How "far
away" do the client + server have to be on the network?

It seems unlikely that UNIX TCP/IP has such a large bug in it.  I'd
at least like to see if anything can be done on the client end before
we change servers or protocol specs.
