In this age of increasing technologies and marketing strategies, companies find that
they need to
advertise using many different types of media. The latest type
of media available is the World
Wide Web (WWW). The Web is becoming one of the
most powerful advertising tools around.
The power of the Web is that almost anybody
in the world has access to it, giving the largest
audience ever. Along with
this large audience, its very cost efficient. For instance, say Coke
makes a
TV comercial for prime time. This comercial will cost $1000's to create then $1000's
more
to get a time slot. Even with a prime time slot the audience will be limited to
the broadcast
region. Compare this to the Web, I can get an internet account
for roughly $200/yr and buy an
HTML editor for $100. An HTML editor helps you
create Web pages, but you don't even need
this to create a Web page. Once you've
created and setup your Web page anybody in the
world can view at and at any time.
This is by far the most cost effective way to advertise.
HTML is reletivley simple
to use and quite powerful, in terms of document design. HTML
allows a person
to design a document with graphics, links to other documents and files, forms to
fill out, and numerous text manipulations. The current version of HTML is 2.0 but
v3.0+ is
soon to be release. These new version add new functionality to the
language. For instance, 3.0
will allow tables, equations and several other enhancements.
However, if you are familiar with
the Web, you'll be saying that tables are
already available. This is correct, the Netscape
corporation decided to go ahead
with some 3.0 enhancement, as well as some of it's own. They
are trying to be
the industry leader, and are doing a very good job at it.
As HTML grows it becomes
harder to remember all the elements of the language. HTML
is basically a text
document with special tags. These tags inform the browser how to display
the
contents of the document. Currently there are over 50 tags to remember. To help
people
create HTML documents, developers have designed special editors. The number
of these
editors is growing constantly. So we have done a review on 4 of the more
popular editors, to
help companies decide which one would be best suited for their
employees. We decided that
the editor should help an inexperienced person create
a personal Web page for them, yet
be powerful enough to help design complex Web
pages with ease.
