Sounds like there's a fair bit of interest in this. I like the idea
in principle though when I've tried this in the past with other things
we've rather stumbled on being able to find definite times when enough
of us can get "together" from our different parts of the world and
free from the other constraints of our lives. Gregory Hadley and I
had thought about research collaboration using IRC to link Britain and
Japan as there are things that really need that sort of immediacy when
you're trying to sort out a real collaboration.

I'm happy to host an IRC server here at psyctc.sghms.ac.uk (already
have actually, the computer unit are sorting out their router to
make sure it allows packages in and out on port 6667 which is the
default for IRC). I will be in the office tomorrow p.m. and will try
to respond if anyone tries to access the server. You should be able
just to tell your IRC client that there's a server at
psyctc.sghms.ac.uk ( if your client wants the numeric
address or if the DNS is malfunctioning). I've set up a channel
#pcp. I think the real benefit would be for the sort of fairly
rapid exchanges of q & a on specifics. Feel free to spawn other
channels if you set up rendezvous there etc.!

Best wishes all!
