Subject: help setting up the NTTPSERVER variable on VM
To: www-talk@nxoc01.cern.ch
Hi everybody,
I am experimenting with the WWW client on VM and I can't get it to read
the environment variable to point to our news server on an AIX machine.
So far, I have included the following line in my EXEC file on VM:

'GLOBALV SELECT CENV SET NNTPSERVER unix1.sncc.lsu.edu'

When I choose any newsgroup, it tries to connect to unix1, but then it
tells me it couldn't connect and to check the default for NNTPSERVER.

  Connecting to NewsHost
  Could not access NewsHost unix1.sncc.lsu.edu
                                           Connecting to NewsHost ...
  Could not access unix1.sncc.lsu.edu.

  (Check default WorldWideWeb NewsHost ?)

Is there something else that I need to do on the unix side to allow access
to my VM client ?. I don't know much about this (as you can tell) and I
would appreciate any help. As a comment, our WWW clients on unix read the
news just fine. HELP !
Thanks,
Gabriela
