I am glad to hear that people want this facility, having spent a lot of
time working out how to do this effectively in HTML+.

HTML+ also provides a solution for printing, via the "print" attribute for
links. This determines whether a link is to be treated as a cross reference,
a footnote (when nodes are short enough to be included as a footnote) or as a
separate section.
