Searching For A Customer

Description
The BMS supports a powerful search engine for finding a customer. When you need to look up any information about a specific customer or you want a list of customers that share any information that isn't related to a book (eg. all customers with the same last name), you can find them by performing a customer search. From here, you can print or save the list of the search results or you can view all the information on a specific individual.

How To Use This Function
  1. From the Customer Administration Menu, click on the "Search" button
  2. Fill in any of the information fields that you want to base the search on. It isn't necessary for you to fill in all of the fields, but with the more information that you enter, the more detailed the search will be.
  3. Press the "Search" button.
The system will then display a list of all of the customers that matched the search criteria in the area below the input fields.
If no information was supplied for the search, all of the customers in the system will be in the results list. You can make the list smaller by adding more information to the search. This is accomplished by filling in more of the information fields at the top and then pressing "Search" once again. If the system didn't find any customers during the search, the results list will be empty.
You can print or save the results of your search. To print the list, select the "Print" button at the bottom of the window and the list will be automatically printed. To save the list, click on the "Save" button and a box will pop up asking for a filename to save to. Enter the filename and select "OK" or "Quit" if you don't want to save this list. You won't be able to save or print a list that does not have any entries.
The "Select" button will let you view all the information about a single customer from the search results list. For more information, see the "View A Customer" section of this manual.
To exit the Customer Search window, select the "Quit" button at the bottom of the window.
