Check the www-talk archive, 1500 messages is only about 5 months of mail
(@ 10 messages/day).
The main answer to your other point (how to extract information from the
data) in this case is that most of the data in the HTML WIT area will get
processed into the SPEC (and then of course you could have links from the
SPEC to the WIT areas where that topic was discussed).
