Well, META is in HEAD so it's already non-displaying. [Unless one
has a broken user agent.]

You can put up to 1024 characters of arbitrary CDATA in its CONTENT
attribute now. Is it a matter of this being inadequate?

You also have two other options for including your own data:
PIs and marked sections. Though here you may have trouble due
to non-conformance of some user agents.
